Kebbi Govt goes Spiritual, urges Nationwide Prayers following Schoolgirls Abduction
The Kebbi State Government has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the safe return of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
In a statement on Friday, Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu, called on religious leaders of all faiths to seek divine intervention, noting, “It is only Allah SWT who can rescue the state from these predicaments and restore peace and comfort.” He specifically encouraged Islamic scholars to offer continuous Qunūt prayers and Christian clergymen to include supplications during sermons.
Aliyu extended sympathies to the families of the abducted students, the Zuru Emirate, and the school community, assuring them of government support. Residents were also reminded not to aid criminals but to protect their communities and share information with security agencies.
Governor Nasir Idris, who joined Friday prayers in Argungu, emphasized “intensive and sustained prayers” during visits from Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Progressive Governors’ Forum, labour leaders, and the Minister of State for Defence. The government thanked visitors who showed solidarity and urged citizens to remain peaceful and united as security operations continue.
