The Lagos State Government has announced that sections of the Lekki–Ajah corridor will undergo partial closure for major rehabilitation and improvement works over the next eight months, aimed at easing traffic flow in the area.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the project will run from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and will be executed in two phases to minimise disruption to motorists.

During the first phase, seven sections of the corridor will be rehabilitated. One lane will be closed for construction while the other remains open, with work later shifting to the opposite lane.

“Motorists heading toward Lekki and Ajah will continue to have access throughout the construction,” Osiyemi assured.

In the second phase, traffic from Ajah to Lekki will be diverted to a single lane while the opposite lane undergoes rehabilitation, with movement toward Ajah remaining open at all times.

The commissioner warned that some sections would experience partial closures throughout the project and appealed to motorists and residents to cooperate with traffic officials and follow diversion signs.

“These repairs are part of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer, smoother journeys for everyone,” Osiyemi added.
