The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on Thursday ordered the shutdown of operations at Canalily Estate along Meadow Hall Way in Ikate-Lekki after discovering that the estate was deliberately discharging untreated wastewater onto a public road.

The agency said the illegal discharge led to wastewater overflowing into the surrounding community, creating a public nuisance, degrading the environment, and exposing residents to significant health risks.

LSWMO emphasized that all residents, estate managers, and property owners must comply with approved wastewater disposal standards and uphold proper hygiene practices to protect public health and the environment.

The agency warned that any form of environmental violation would attract severe penalties, including possible prosecution. It also encouraged the public to report environmental infractions through its official hotlines — 08022022397 and 07025332163 — or via its social media channels: @lswmomedia on Instagram and Twitter, and the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office page on Facebook.
