Man protests naked

As protests spread across Nigeria over economic hardships, a man took an unconventional approach in Lagos State on Thursday, protesting in the nude. A viral video shows the man walking naked through the streets of Ojota among other demonstrators, chanting “Solidarity forever.”

According to NIGERIA NEWS 247, the nationwide protests, which began on August 1, 2024, aim to highlight the severe economic struggles faced by citizens and to pressure the government for action.

Protesters in Lagos defied a court order that restricted their demonstrations to specific areas, instead taking to the streets, roads, and Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park to voice their grievances.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin assured that the police were present to ensure the safety and security of both protesters and non-protesters.

In a statement on X.com, Hundeyin said, “The area is calm!

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, visited Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, and found the protesters to be peaceful. He also checked Alausa, Lekki toll gate, and other parts of the state, all of which were calm. Non-protesting Lagosians are going about their duties without harassment.
