The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has designated all correctional centres across the country as “Red Zones” in anticipation of the nationwide protest scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, demanding the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement released on Sunday by NCoS Public Relations Officer Umar Abubakar, the service emphasized that correctional facilities are highly restricted areas and any attempt to breach security will be met with strict enforcement.

“The Nigerian Correctional Service wishes to inform the general public that all correctional centres nationwide are designated as no-protest zones. These facilities are highly restricted areas, and any attempt to breach security around them will not be tolerated,” the statement read in part.
