The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a warning to the public about scammers posing as representatives of the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme. The commission also noted that registration for the scheme closed on August 31, 2024.

In a statement released on Friday by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, the NDDC cautioned against fraudulent messages claiming that recipients have been selected for the internship program and requesting personal information or an acceptance fee.

The NDDC emphasized that it does not charge any fees for placing qualified candidates in its internship program and is not involved in any such fraudulent activities.

“Official communications from us will always come through our verified websites and social media channels,” the statement said. “If you receive any messages claiming to be from us asking for money or personal information, please disregard them and report the fraud to the relevant authorities. Your safety and privacy are paramount to us.”

For genuine inquiries about the NDDC’s empowerment programs, the commission urged the public to contact them directly through their official channels.
