The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa, emphasized that unity and patriotism are essential to realizing Nigeria’s full potential. He made this statement during the 40th anniversary and reunion of the Nigeria Military School (NMS) 1984 set, held in Abuja on Saturday.

With the event themed “Leveraging on Nigeria’s Diversity for Inclusive Nation Building: Pathway to Leadership, Stability, and Prosperity,” Marwa congratulated the 1984 set for their accomplishments, attributing their success to the quality training they received at NMS.

He described NMS as a reflection of Nigeria’s diversity, where values of brotherhood, unity, and national pride were instilled in students. Marwa also voiced his concerns about the country’s challenges, particularly ethnic and religious divisions, and called on Nigerians to stay committed to unity.

“Forty years is a milestone worth celebrating. It is encouraging to see many members of this set excel in both military and civilian life. However, moments like this are also opportunities to reflect on our shared bond as a nation.

“In recent years, issues threatening national unity have emerged, causing some citizens to question the coexistence of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups,” he said.
