The Nigeria Custom Service has announced the suspension import duties and taxes on essential food items.

This is according to a post made on the official X account of Nigeria Custom Service on Saturday 3rd August 2024.

As part of the initiative to address food shortage in Nigeria. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Wale Bashir Adeniyi, announced the suspension of import duties and taxes on essential food items to make them more affordable for Nigerians and address food inflation.

Adeniyi also outlined the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens amidst global inflation.

He also mentioned that the Nigeria Customs Service has streamlined export processes to facilitate the efficient movement of goods to international markets.
