‘Nigeria is Bleeding’ – Adamawa Governor Fintiri’s Alarming Message for the Nation
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed deep concern to the Federal Government, stating that Nigeria is “bleeding” due to the ongoing economic challenges. He criticized the government’s economic policies, claiming they have placed immense strain on Nigerians and are exacerbating their suffering.
Fintiri made these remarks during a meeting of the National Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, which brought together governors from the North East and other important party figures. In his speech, the governor emphasized his frustration with the current state of the nation’s economy. “Nigeria is bleeding, we are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working,” he lamented. He urged the Federal Government to reconsider its policies, arguing that they were only intensifying the hardships faced by the population.
The governor also underscored the importance of responsible governance, reminding those in power that their positions are a privilege granted by God. He called for a governance approach based on trust, responsibility, and policies that alleviate, rather than compound, the pain Nigerians are enduring. “The country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” Fintiri stated, advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the Nigerian people.
Meanwhile, at the same meeting, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee, reflected on the factors that contributed to the PDP’s loss in the last election. He pointed to internal disunity within the party as a significant cause and assured attendees that the committee was committed to resolving these issues. “We are here to interact with our leadership and membership of our great party to discuss where we are falling short of what we were supposed to do, which led to the outcome we witnessed,” Oyinlola explained.
