1. 2027 General Elections: Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated that members of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will decide his political future for the 2027 general elections. He mentioned that it is too early to determine whether he will run for the presidency.

2. Failed Plastic Surgery: Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a medical doctor and founder of MedContour Services Ltd., has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos for performing a failed plastic surgery in 2020 that resulted in the death of Nneka Onwuzuligbo.

3. Tragedy struck Adamawa State: At least 200 people have died due to a dangerous humid heatwave experienced from May 1 to May 13 in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. Unofficial records from the Yola Cemetery Corporation in Damare put the death toll from this excessive heatwave at 400.

Five health workers are currently detained by the General Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department in Ilorin as suspects.

10. Electricity: On Friday, the Federal Government announced the suspension of granting electricity regulatory autonomy to state governments as it reviews the policy. Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu stated that state governments and other stakeholders do not yet fully understand what it takes to operate an electricity market.
