1.FG Makes new appointment into governing councils of federal Universities: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, former Bauchi Governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, former INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, and others to serve on the newly announced governing councils of federal universities.
2.”No more importation of gasoline”- Dangote: Africa’s richest man and chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, announced that with the Dangote Refinery’s plan, Nigeria will not need to import gasoline by June of this year. Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali on Friday, he mentioned that the refinery had already begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel in Nigeria.
3.Oba of Benin recovers looted royal tools: The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has received two looted royal stools from the German government, which were taken during the 1897 invasion of Benin City. These artefacts—bronze and wooden royal stools (Ekete)—were looted during the reigns of Oba Eresoyen and Oba Esigie several centuries ago.
4. FCT News: Soldiers stormed Banex Market in Abuja on Saturday following the assault on some of their colleagues. A mob had attacked at least two soldiers in the market, which is known for selling electronic gadgets and mobile phones. Some traders closed their shops and left early to avoid being caught up in potential reprisals.
5. Rivers Crisis: Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara lamented that his administration only began functioning three months ago due to ongoing crises in the state. Despite the delays, Fubara claimed his government has achieved more in terms of project and service delivery than some previous administrations did in eight years.

7. Politics: The presidency has dismissed the planned alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi. According to the presidency, President Bola Tinubu is unbothered by the alliance, noting that the President is not losing sleep over it.
8. Man died in a football viewing center: A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man died while watching football at a local bar along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 16. The deceased, a regular customer, reportedly walked in, sat down to watch a match, and fell asleep, never to wake again.
9. Stolen crude oil recovered: The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has dismantled an illegal refining site containing over 100,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Adobe settlement, Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State. Commander Dandaura Apollos credited the success to credible intelligence that suspects had vandalized a multinational company’s wellhead.
10. Child Abuse: The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old stepmother, Rachel Geoffrey, for allegedly inflicting severe burns on her 7-year-old and 3-year-old stepchildren. Police reported that the stepmother set fire to the children’s hands as punishment for eating food she had saved for their father.
