1. Minimum Wage:  The three-way negotiation for minimum wage involving Organised Labour, federal and state governments, and the Organized Private Sector (OPS) ended in a stalemate on Tuesday. Labour rejected the government’s offer of N54,000 and expressed disappointment at the absence of state governors to present their proposals.

2. Banditry: Over 40 individuals were reportedly killed by suspected bandits in an attack on Zurak village in Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State. The assailants struck the community as residents were winding down from their daily activities.

3. Rivers News: Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially sworn in eight commissioners approved by a panel led by Victor Oko-Jombo. The governor announced this via Twitter on Tuesday evening.

4. Security:  The House of Representatives has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct a thorough sweep for arms, ammunition, AK-47 rifles, and other weapons held by herders and individuals. The aim is to prohibit public possession of such weapons.

5. Terrorists Attack: Suspected members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have killed a senior police officer in northern Borno State. The incident occurred when ISWAP members infiltrated New Marte around 7:30 pm on Monday, targeting a health worker who narrowly escaped.

6. Rivers Government Inaugurates Internal Road Projects: Governor Similanayi Fubara of Rivers State stated that he began making decisionNewss as governor in February 2024. Speaking at the inauguration of internal road projects in Emohua Local Government Area, Fubara emphasized that the visible projects were achieved within four months.

7.  Arewa Criticizes Tinubu-led Government: The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) criticized certain policies of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government, attributing them to the declining living standards, inflation, and unemployment in Nigeria. The forum warned of potential social unrest, particularly in the northern region, if urgent action is not taken to address the economic challenges.

8. Refinery: The price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has risen from N940/litre to N1,100/litre due to the depreciation of the naira against the US dollar. This increase was reported on Tuesday.

9. Tragedy: Seven individuals, including students of Niger Delta University, Yenagoa, were discovered dead in a music studio on Tuesday morning, suspected to have succumbed to generator fumes. The studio, located in the Amarata area of Yenagoa, was operated by one of the deceased, Akpos Barakubo.

Politics: The All Progressives Congress (APC) dismissed talks of a potential merger between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s standard-bearer, Peter Obi. In a statement, the APC labeled Atiku and Obi as desperate politicians unfit for leadership.
