Nigerian Vice President, Shettima Departs for Abidjan to Attend SIREXE 2024 Opening Ceremony
On Wednesday morning, Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima departed Abuja for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to attend the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE) 2024 conference.
This international event, which is organized by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, aims to address key issues surrounding the “Policies and Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries.” The conference, which will run from November 27 to December 2, 2024, is taking place at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre.
At the invitation of Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, Vice President Shettima will have the opportunity to share Nigeria’s extensive experience in the hydrocarbon exploration and production sectors.
This presents a significant opportunity for both countries to engage in discussions on the challenges and opportunities within the extractive and energy industries, particularly focusing on sustainable development practices and strategies. Nigeria, as a major player in the oil and gas industry, will offer valuable insights into its policies, successes, and ongoing initiatives in these sectors.
The SIREXE 2024 conference brings together stakeholders from across the globe to discuss and promote sustainable practices in energy and resource extraction, making it an important platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Vice President Shettima’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to contributing to global discussions on energy transition, resource management, and the development of policies that promote environmental sustainability while maximizing economic potential.
Following the opening ceremony and expected engagements at the conference, Vice President Shettima is set to return to Abuja later today, wrapping up a brief yet significant diplomatic visit. His participation in the SIREXE conference highlights Nigeria’s leadership role in shaping the future of the extractive and energy industries in Africa and beyond.
