Nigerians Now Regret Believing Anti-Jonathan Narratives – Mahdi Shehu
Political commentator Mahdi Shehu has expressed that many Nigerians now quietly regret believing negative narratives about former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 election period.
In a birthday message marking Jonathan’s 68th birthday, Shehu praised the former president for being patient, well-collected, and for prioritizing Nigeria’s unity over personal ambition. He argued that even critics now recognize Jonathan’s leadership qualities.
Shehu criticized those who opposed Jonathan, saying they are now more unpopular than he ever was. He highlighted that accusations of failure, insecurity, and reckless spending previously levelled against Jonathan now define the current leadership.
Reflecting on public sentiment, Shehu said, “Millions of Nigerians are now lamenting inwardly and silently over being misled by the APC blackmailing narrative of Jonathan.” He concluded his message by wishing the former president a happy birthday and long life.
