Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has raised alarm over a significant deployment of security operatives around the separatist’s residence.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday morning, Prince Kanu wrote: “Breaking news! Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family house is currently surrounded by a large number of security agents. We are alerting the whole world.”

The development comes ahead of the long-awaited judgment in Kanu’s terrorism-related cases at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho. The judgment will address a series of applications filed by the Federal Government against Kanu.

Kanu, who has been in custody since 2021, is facing seven terrorism-related charges, including alleged incitement, running an unlawful group, and other acts deemed a threat to national security.

The heightened security presence has sparked tension and uncertainty in parts of the South East, as residents await the court’s decision.
