Transportation costs in the Federal Capital Territory are expected to surge following a recent increase in petrol prices at several Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) stations in Abuja.

On Wednesday, the price of petrol was raised from N897 to N1,030 per litre, marking the second increase within a month and a rise of 14.8% or N133.

At the NNPCL mega station in the Central Area, a customer reported to NIGERIA NEWS 247 that petrol was being sold at N1,030. The station did not display prices on its signboard or pump, leaving customers unaware of the costs until they spoke with the attendants.

“I’m very frustrated right now. I came here hoping for a better price, only to find out after waiting in line that it had gone up to N1,030,” said the anonymous customer.

In contrast, independent marketers like Conoil and Total Energies, located opposite the NNPCL headquarters, were selling petrol at N926, though customers faced long queues.
