The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, has ordered an immediate suspension of all activities by the Bouncers’ Association in the state, pending their full registration with the appropriate regulatory bodies.

NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Toma Matthew Enya, issued the directive on Friday, citing security concerns arising from the group’s unregulated operations. He noted that several individuals have been operating as private security personnel without affiliation to any licensed private guard company.

Mr. Enya described the situation as a serious lapse in oversight, warning that such activities pose risks to the state’s overall security framework.

In a press release issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SC Afolabi Tolulope, the NSCDC urged the association to register as a Private Guard Company under the Corps’ supervision. The Commandant emphasized that proper registration would provide legal recognition and ensure the group adheres to established private security protocols in Nigeria.

The Bouncers’ Association, represented by Mr. Stephen Olajide, acknowledged the directive and expressed willingness to comply. The group also commended the NSCDC for its ongoing support in the training and retraining of private guards across the state.

Meanwhile, the Command warned that anyone found operating unregistered security outfits or using gear resembling that of official security agencies would face arrest and prosecution. Mr. Enya stressed that unauthorized individuals conducting security checks at events undermine national security efforts.

He added that the enforcement action aims to regulate the private security industry in Ekiti State and strengthen overall safety. “Once the Bouncers’ Association fully complies with the registration directive, it will enhance security and help prevent potential breaches,” Enya concluded.
