The Ogun State Government has inaugurated the Multi-sectoral Coordination Structure (MCS) for the Nigeria for Women Program, Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU), aiming to institutionalize women’s economic empowerment and inclusive governance.

Inaugurating the committee on Tuesday, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Dapo Okubadejo, described the initiative as “a pivotal step toward institutionalizing an inclusive, accountable, and impact-driven governance framework.” He emphasized that the MCS would serve as the “engine room of coordination, accountability, and strategic alignment across ministries and development partners.”

The NFWP-SU, supported by the Federal Government and the World Bank, seeks to improve women’s livelihoods, enhance access to finance, and strengthen social inclusion across four local government areas: Ifo, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ado-Odo/Ota.

Okubadejo outlined the Committee’s key responsibilities, including approving the State Annual Work Plan and Budget, reviewing project implementation reports, fostering inter-agency collaboration, supporting Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), and ensuring the integration of Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) into state development and budgeting frameworks. He stressed that the MCS is “a working structure designed to drive measurable results,” urging members to operate with diligence, accountability, and data-driven action plans.

State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, described the inauguration as a historic milestone in Ogun State’s commitment to women’s empowerment. She noted that the initiative targets over 105,000 women across the four LGAs through the formation of 4,200 Women Affinity Groups, providing safe spaces for learning, saving, investing, and building financial independence.

The inauguration was attended by political heads from key ministries, including Budget and Planning; Women Affairs and Social Development; Agriculture and Food Security; Education, Science and Technology; Industry, Trade and Investment; Environment; and Water Resources.
