Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, has expressed concern over President Bola Tinubu’s absence from Nigeria during a time of significant economic and social challenges.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 notes that President Bola Tinubu left the country on October 2 for a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom as part of his annual leave. Reports indicate that he recently traveled from the UK to Paris, France, for an “important engagement” after spending over a week in the UK.

Two weeks after his departure, Obi issued a statement on Friday, questioning the president’s absence.

“The President assured us he would be away for just 14 days. That time has passed, and we are still waiting for his return,” Obi remarked.

“Given the urgent work that needs to be done in a troubled nation like ours, one would have expected him to return sooner.

“The immense hardship imposed on our citizens by some of his administration’s policies is staggering, and we urgently need his leadership to navigate the country through this crisis,” he added.
