Peter Obi Urges Supporters to Donate Birthday Gifts to the Poor
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has urged his supporters to redirect birthday gifts and gestures toward helping the poor and vulnerable in society.
In a statement issued from Rome, Italy, on Sunday, Obi reiterated his long-standing personal philosophy of avoiding lavish celebrations in favor of initiatives that uplift the underprivileged and support public institutions.
The former Anambra State governor expressed heartfelt gratitude to supporters across Nigeria and around the world for their messages of goodwill as he turned 64 on Saturday, July 19.
“I sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of goodwill and birthday wishes I received worldwide,” Obi said. “I remain deeply grateful to all who marked the day in one way or another—especially Nigerian youths, the Obidient family, and members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.”
According to reports, the birthday was commemorated by members of the Obidient Movement and other well-wishers through community service and solidarity events held in various locations globally.
