Presidency Sets July 17 for Special FEC Session in Honour of Buhari

The Nigerian presidency has announced that a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, to honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga made the announcement on Wednesday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will preside over the tribute session, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

“A special session of the Federal Executive Council in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari will be held on Thursday, 17 July, from 5pm. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead the session of tributes for the departed leader,” Onanuga wrote.

The session comes after an earlier postponement by the Federal Government. Buhari, who passed away on Sunday at the London Clinic, was buried in his hometown of Daura on Tuesday during a state funeral.
