President Tinubu Arrives in Brazil for 17th BRICS Summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, ahead of the 17th BRICS Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place from July 6 to 7.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Titled “President Tinubu Arrives In Rio De Janeiro For BRICS Meeting,” the statement confirmed that the President is attending the summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
President Tinubu’s aircraft touched down at Galeão Air Force Base at 8:45 p.m. on Friday. He was received by the base commander, Brazil’s Deputy Minister for Africa and the Middle East, Ambassador Carlos Sergio Sobral Duarte, as well as the Deputy Minister for Trade Promotion, Science, Technology, Innovation, and Culture.
During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to participate in a high-level plenary session where he will deliver an address on Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms and efforts to reposition the country for global competitiveness.
According to the statement, the President will also hold strategic meetings with potential investors in key sectors including agriculture, solid minerals, healthcare, and alternative energy.
