President Tinubu officially confirmed Buhari’s passing on Sunday, noting that the former leader died in London at approximately 4:30 p.m. after a prolonged illness.

As a mark of respect, Tinubu ordered that national flags be flown at half-staff across the country for seven days.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985, was later elected as a democratic president, holding office from 2015 to 2023.

His final burial is expected to take place in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
