Organizers of the planned nationwide protests have pledged to proceed with their use of Eagle Square in Abuja, despite alleged government resistance.

Damilare Adenola, Mobilization Director of the Take It Back Movement, made this statement on Sunday during an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics. He confirmed that the organization had sent a letter to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike requesting permission to use the venue.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 recalls that Wike mentioned in a town hall meeting on Saturday that he only learned about the letter through social media.

In response, Adenola suggested that the delay might be due to bureaucratic issues or potential insincerity from the minister. He promised that another letter would be issued on Monday to secure the necessary permission.

Despite this, Adenola emphasized that the protest will take place at Eagle Square on August 1, regardless of Wike’s response. “Eagle Square is a public property,” he said, expressing surprise at Wike’s request for rent and security fees.
