Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele Denies Attempt to Remove Akpabio

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has dismissed reports suggesting an attempt to remove Senate President Godswill Akpabio, describing them as misleading and aimed at creating tension within the National Assembly.

Bamidele made the clarification during Wednesday’s plenary, stating that no discussions or plans had taken place among senators regarding Akpabio’s removal.

“There was no attempt by any of our colleagues, nor any discussion about removing the Senate President from office,” he said.

He emphasized that the Red Chamber remains united and focused on pressing national matters, adding that reports like these are intended to distract lawmakers from urgent public issues.

“We are fully united and have a zero-tolerance approach to distractions because there are urgent issues of public importance that need our attention. Reports like these are clearly meant to create confusion,” Bamidele added.
