Senator Natasha Threatens Legal Action Against NASS Clerk Over Resumption Obstruction
Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has issued a legal threat against the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, warning of consequences if she is prevented from resuming plenary on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The warning was contained in a letter dated September 10 and signed by her legal counsel, Chief Michael Numa, SAN. In the letter, Akpoti-Uduaghan vowed to pursue legal redress should the National Assembly fail to comply with a court order mandating her resumption.
“Take notice that failure to comply by Monday, 15th September 2025, will leave us with no alternative but to initiate proceedings against you personally and in your official capacity,” the letter stated.
Her counsel argued that any refusal to obey the court’s directive would constitute a violation of both the Nigerian Constitution and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
The letter further warned that the Clerk could face contempt charges and other disciplinary actions, adding that he would be held liable for any resulting disruption or breach of peace.
“We strongly advise that you reconsider your untenable stance and comply with the Constitution and extant judicial orders,” it added.
