Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has reiterated his opposition to the separatist ideology of Biafra, emphasizing his belief in a united Nigeria. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, Soludo stated that while he respects differing opinions, he does not subscribe to the secessionist agenda.

“As a full-blooded Igbo man, I don’t believe in the agitation or separatist view in Igboland,” he said. “But I believe in dialogue. I believe the Igbo need Nigeria just as Nigeria needs the Igbo.”

Soludo, who is seeking a second term as governor, also revealed plans to engage with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, following his release. He said a roundtable discussion would be necessary to chart an “alternative vision” for the Southeast.

“When Nnamdi Kanu comes out, we are all going to sit down at a roundtable and interrogate our alternative vision for Igbo land,” he added.

Despite distancing himself from the secessionist cause, Soludo did not oppose the planned protest scheduled for October 20, 2025, which is being led by activist Omoyele Sowore to demand Kanu’s release.

Nnamdi Kanu, who was rearrested in Kenya in 2021, remains in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria, sparking ongoing calls for his release from supporters and rights advocates.
