Tinubu Expresses Condolences for the Late Emeritus Professor Ayodeji Banjo

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences to the family of the late Emeritus Professor Ayodeji Banjo, who passed away at the age of 90. The President’s condolence message was conveyed in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Nglelale on Sunday.

Professor Banjo served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan from 1984 to 1991 and held positions as former Chairman of the Board of the National Universities Commission, and former Pro-Chancellor of the Universities of Port Harcourt, Ilorin, and Ajayi Crowther.

“President Tinubu mourns the loss of this academic par excellence, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, describing him as a strong pillar of professional and moral excellence.

“The President honors the life and contributions of the late Emeritus Professor of English, renowned for his significant impact on the development of education in Nigeria,” the statement read.

It further conveyed the President’s sympathies to Professor Banjo’s family and the academic community, while offering prayers for the departed to find eternal rest. Late Banjo passed away on Friday, just 22 days after his 90th birthday celebration.
