Financial analyst and educator Kalu Aja has criticized President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that his primary focus is on reelection rather than budgetary discipline or implementing the Oronsaye report. Aja’s comments followed the President’s announcement on Tuesday about the creation of a new Ministry of Livestock Development.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 reported that Tinubu made this announcement while inaugurating the Presidential Committee on Livestock Reforms at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Aja questioned why an administration that had previously emphasized the importance of implementing the Oronsaye report was now establishing a new ministry dedicated to livestock.

He stated, “If the North today asks for Federal land and federal funding for RUGA, they will get it. If they ask for all roads to have air conditioning, they will get it also. This President is not interested in budgetary discipline or implementing the Oronsaye report; he is only interested in reelection. The administration that spoke eloquently about implementing the Oronsaye report is creating a brand new ministry for cows.”

Aja also addressed his Northern audience, clarifying that he was not attacking them but acknowledging their adeptness at navigating fiscal federalism. He continued, “You have gotten Sokoto to Lagos ‘super highway’, kudos; push harder, and you will get an inland port in Kano with complete dredging of inland rivers.”

To economists, budget watchers, and those expecting an economic miracle, Aja concluded, “Collect your L in peace.”
