Tinubu’s First Anniversary: Akume Claims Victory Over Boko Haram in One Year

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, praised President Bola Tinubu for his swift action against Boko Haram insurgents within his inaugural year. This commendation came during a book launch in Abuja commemorating Tinubu’s accomplishments since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

Simultaneously, the Defence Headquarters reported that between May 21 and May 23, 2024, 103 Boko Haram and ISWAP militants and their families surrendered to the Nigerian military in Borno State, as announced by Major General Edward Buba during the DHQ’s bi-weekly press briefing.

Akume applauded Tinubu for his administration’s success in tackling Boko Haram and addressing the menace of kidnappers. He highlighted the president’s achievements in infrastructure development, including the construction of numerous roads and critical projects like the Abuja Metro Rail.

Additionally, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, praised Tinubu’s leadership amidst challenges, while billionaire businessman Arthur Eze acknowledged Tinubu’s efforts in reforming the local government system, which has faced mismanagement by state governors.

To mark the president’s first anniversary, academics Bolu Folayan and Ajibolu Balofine detailed Tinubu’s political journey, celebrating his triumphs and successes.
