Tinubu’s wife donates fabrics to APC women leaders after outcry
Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, distributed traditional fabric materials to the Forum of 36 State Women Leaders of the All Progressives Congress and the Federal Capital Territory as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The donation was made by a delegation led by Hajia Nana, representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
Other members of the delegation included Fatima Abbas, spouse of the Speaker for the House of Representatives; Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Senate President; Salamatu Gbajabiamila, wife of the Chief of Staff; and wives of various ministers in the current administration.
Just a week following the women leaders’ expression of concerns about feeling neglected by President Bola Tinubu’s administration despite their support during the election, a generous donation was made.
Led by forum President Patricia Yakubu, the disgruntled women presented their grievances to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, highlighting that all they received after the 2023 general election were a bag of rice and a paper wrapper each.
However, on Wednesday, Shettima commended the First Lady for her continuous efforts in championing inclusivity and empowering women within the party as she donated bundles of wrappers.
The vice president’s wife emphasized that the donation was specifically intended for APC women involved in the fabric industry.
She mentioned that she was representing Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the president, and conveyed greetings and words of encouragement from her.
She expressed gratitude for Senator Tinubu’s support during the Boko Haram crisis in Borno State and highlighted that their gift was a token of support for APC women leaders in the fabric business.
While acknowledging that the quantity may not be substantial, she assured that more initiatives like this were forthcoming.
I urge everyone to support each other and show appreciation for one another. It is important to remember that it is easier to destroy than to create.
The President has shown his support for gender equality by appointing many women as ministers and heads of government agencies.
The National Chairman of the party praised the First Lady’s actions, believing it aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This initiative will help improve the financial situation of women who are already involved in the textile industry, which has been impacted by the current global economic challenges.
This initiative will be valuable as it will boost their inventory, enabling them to expand their businesses by purchasing more materials.
I urge the program organizers to follow the example set by the First and Second Ladies of Nigeria. It is crucial to maintain honesty, transparency, and a sense of national pride to ensure that these materials reach their intended recipients.
Additionally, it is important not to impose any charges, including transportation fees, on these materials. They were provided for free and should continue to be distributed without cost.
