1. Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has vowed not to allow Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, a Chinese company, to defraud Nigeria. In a statement on Saturday titled ‘Zhongfu firm is an imposter, it’s Chinese against Chinese dispute,’ Amosun asserted that Zhongfu has no legal authority to seize any Nigerian asset.
2. A part of the popular Kaura Modern Market, situated opposite the Prince and Princess Market in Abuja’s Kaura District, was engulfed in flames on Friday night. Reports on Saturday revealed that the fire, which began around 11 pm, destroyed approximately 40 shops, with goods such as food items, appliances, and household essentials lost in the blaze.
3. President Bola Tinubu has cautioned government officials and Heads of Agencies who have no official role at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings in New York to refrain from traveling to the United States. This directive was announced on Saturday by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
4. Amnesty International has reported that over 1,000 #EndBadGovernance protesters are currently detained in various prisons across the country. The global human rights organization accused the Nigerian authorities of intensifying their crackdown on peaceful protesters by bringing over 1,000 of them to court.
