1. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has advised some staff members to stay home on August 1 and 2, 2024, due to planned nationwide protests. Only essential personnel are expected to work during this period, as per an emergency alert issued on Wednesday by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos.

2. At least 19 people were killed on Wednesday in Kawuri village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), suspected to be planted by Boko Haram insurgents, detonated at a local joint. This incident follows an attack on a police station in Jakana town, also in Konduga LGA, three days earlier.

3. An Abuja High Court has issued an order preventing protesters from marching in the streets of the Federal Capital Territory. 4. An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found at the perimeter fence of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, of the Nigeria Customs Service on Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday. The discovery was made on the eve of a planned nationwide protest against worsening conditions in the country.
