1. The 20 medical students from the University of Jos and the University of Maiduguri who were abducted in Benue State last week have been rescued. The Benue State Police Command confirmed their release last night, attributing the success to a joint operation involving the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

2. Nigeria has confirmed 40 cases of Monkeypox (Mpox) out of 830 suspected cases, with no deaths reported so far, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC). Meanwhile, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has declared Mpox a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security (PHECS) after a 160% rise in cases this year.
