1. Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has requested that all groups planning the proposed nationwide protest submit their details to the Commissioners of Police in their respective states. Speaking at Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, he emphasized that the requirement is to ensure the protest remains peaceful.

2. Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has accused politicians of using judges to undermine Nigeria’s democratic system. He criticized governors for prioritizing vehicle donations to their associates over addressing the needs of the electorate.

3. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) and Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) have called for punitive actions, including banning an upcoming film in Nigeria that depicts women in niqabs committing crimes such as bank robbery. The groups expressed their concerns in separate statements on Friday.

4. The Rivers State High Court has issued a fresh order preventing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from proceeding with its planned congresses in the state. The court halted the congresses scheduled to take place in the wards, 23 local government areas, and the state on July 27, August 10, and August 31.

The Lagos State Management Agency reported the incident, which occurred at Josien Factory Warehouse in Abule Osun, Lagos State. LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, provided details of the incident.

10. An explosion, suspected to be caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), occurred at the Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. A local resident, Ali Hassan, reported that the explosion happened around 12:30 PM on Friday, injuring a girl.
