1. The Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has announced an indefinite shutdown of all university activities nationwide starting today, Monday.
2. The Nigeria Labour Congress criticized the International Monetary Fund on Sunday for denying responsibility for the Nigerian government’s recent removal of petrol subsidies. The congress called this denial cynical, highlighting a consistent trend by the IMF and World Bank of imposing harsh economic measures on developing countries.
3. On Sunday, operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency revealed that they rejected a N10 million bribe to release a drug suspect, Tsolaye Eburajolo, who had been arrested in Lagos. They also seized 26,250,000 tramadol pills and 508,400 bottles of codeine syrup, with a street value of N16,683,800,000.
