Yakubu hands over to Agbamuche as INEC Acting Chair

Professor Mahmood Yakubu has officially handed over leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to May Agbamuche, who will serve as the Acting National Chairman.

Agbamuche, the longest-serving National Commissioner at INEC, assumes the role temporarily pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.

The handover was announced by Professor Yakubu on Tuesday during an ongoing meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

He called on the commission’s directors and commissioners to extend their full support to Agbamuche during her tenure in the acting position.
