IGP Mourns Loss of Two Esteemed Senior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has conveyed his profound sorrow over the deaths of two esteemed senior police officers, AIG Philip Sule Maku (retired) and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, who had served as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States before retiring as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in the Department of Information and Communication Technology, passed away on August 23, 2024.

The statement also confirmed that CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who held various significant positions including Deputy Commissioner of Police in the State Criminal Investigations Department, Lagos State, and later as Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, died on August 28 following a brief illness.

“The commitment and integrity demonstrated by both officers throughout their service will always be remembered. Their passing is a significant loss to their families and to the Nigeria Police Force as a whole,” the statement read.

“Their contributions have left a lasting impact on everyone they encountered during their careers. On behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extends heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the late AIG Philip Sule Maku and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, and offers prayers for comfort during this challenging time. May their souls rest in peace.”
