2027: Peter Obi Aware that PDP’s ‘Virus’ Has No Cure Says Abdullahi Amid Return Speculations
The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has stated that former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi is fully aware that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is grappling with a deep-rooted crisis “with no cure.”
Abdullahi suggested that the PDP is attempting to lure Obi back as a “poster boy” to restore its damaged reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing reports that Obi might return to PDP to contest the presidency, Abdullahi said the 2027 hopeful has not formally informed ADC that he is no longer a member.
Speaking to Nigerian Tribune, he said:
“Has he told us? Anyone can talk to anyone. But if he comes to us as party leaders and says his position has changed, then we’ll know. Has he told us that? No. So, we will wait for Peter Obi to inform us officially if he leaves ADC. Until then, we are confident he remains a solid part of this coalition. His nominees are in key leadership positions in our party, so we aren’t worried.”
Abdullahi further highlighted the current political landscape:
“You see, PDP is PDP. They are looking for a poster boy to repair their battered image. In the opposition ranking, LP now ranks higher than PDP. PDP is currently number four, even behind NNPP. So why should we be bothered? Peter Obi knows the virus that has afflicted PDP has no cure.”
This statement comes amid ongoing speculation about Obi’s political future, with the Obidient Movement reaffirming his continued membership in the Labour Party and his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
