Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has explained that his intention to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is motivated by his commitment to advancing the interests of his constituents.

Kefas spoke at a cultural event in Jimeta, Adamawa State, on Saturday. The event, titled “Civic Reception: Unveiling of Margi National Attire,” was organized by the Margi tribe to promote their culture and inaugurate a national attire for its people.

The gathering was attended by three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors and other dignitaries. Kefas had earlier announced the postponement of his ceremonial defection to the APC, originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, following the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

Addressing attendees, Kefas stressed that his decision was driven by the welfare and development of the people of Taraba State.

“This is an event where all Margi nations come together to reflect on our past, present, and future. This is not a political gathering. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri is a true Margi son and a unifying figure. I have enjoyed our neighbourly relationship and brotherhood,” Kefas said.

He added, “The only reason for any disagreement is my decision to move to the All Progressives Congress. But I believe that, in the end, he will understand that my decision is in the best interest of my people. I wish you all the best.”
