Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday after commissioning the ADC’s state secretariat along Basin Road in Ilorin, Aregbesola claimed the APC’s actions reflect fear rather than confidence.

“If the APC is truly confident in its popularity, it wouldn’t be resorting to intimidation and harassment of opposition members across the country,” he said. “From Lagos to Kebbi to Kaduna, our members are being targeted. Their desperation shows they know they are no longer popular.”

He added that the ADC is poised to capitalize on the ruling party’s declining support. “By the grace of God, regardless of the posturing from APC, the ADC will take over the leadership of Nigeria and several states in 2027,” Aregbesola stated.

Commenting on recent defections to the APC, Aregbesola described politicians switching allegiance to the ruling party as “enemies of the people.”

Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who recently left the PDP for the ADC, echoed Aregbesola’s confidence. He said the ADC is fully prepared to take on the task of leading Nigeria.
