ADC Establishes Disciplinary Committee Amid Abia Leadership Crisis
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) South-East zone has established a Disciplinary Committee to address the ongoing crisis within its Abia State chapter.
The party leadership explained that the Abia chapter is currently facing internal conflicts sparked by the coalition process, which is set to alter its leadership structure.
In a press statement signed by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chilos Godsent, it was disclosed that a fresh power struggle has emerged amid a surge of coalition partners swelling the party’s ranks in Abia.
While the increase in membership is seen as a positive step toward greater synergy, it has also led to misunderstandings within the chapter.
To tackle these tensions and maintain unity, the zonal leadership held an emergency meeting in Owerri, Imo State, chaired by Sir Bon Unachukwu, ADC’s National Vice Chairman for the Southeast.
The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and cohesion in Abia to ensure the party’s progress is not hindered.
As a result, a three-member Investigative and Disciplinary Committee was formed, comprising Dr. Uche Edeh (Chairman), Barr. Anyanwu Chioma Joy (Secretary), and Chilos Godsent (member).
The committee’s responsibilities include engaging with key leaders and stakeholders, meeting with factional groups, reviewing petitions and relevant documents, and making recommendations for an amicable resolution.
According to the statement, the committee is expected to complete its work and submit a report within 14 days of its inauguration, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
