ADC: Keyamo now Peter Obi’s campaign spokesman, political adviser – Shaibu
Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, of positioning himself as an unofficial spokesperson and political adviser to former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Shaibu made the remarks in response to Keyamo’s recent comments about the emerging opposition coalition, in which the minister suggested that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) — the adopted platform of the coalition — should consider giving its 2027 presidential ticket to Peter Obi.
Reacting via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shaibu alleged that Keyamo’s remarks reflected growing anxiety within the ruling camp over the prospects of a united opposition front.
“@fkeyamo, in your panic-stricken desperation—gripped by the looming shadow of an unstoppable opposition coalition—you have shamelessly reinvented yourself as both @PeterObi’s campaign spokesman and his unsolicited political adviser,” Shaibu wrote.
He continued: “How ironic, that in your bid to sow discord, you only expose your fear. But let it be known: Peter Obi is far too astute to fall for your juvenile stratagems.”
Shaibu insisted that the new opposition coalition remains united and focused, rejecting any attempts to divide their ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“This time, we see through the game. There will be no splitting of votes, no scattering of resolve. The coalition stands united, our mission is clear, and your exit is inevitable. Accept our deepest sympathies in advance—for what is coming will be historic,” he added.
The exchange underscores the growing tension between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition figures as Nigeria heads into another election cycle. Keyamo has not yet responded to Shaibu’s comments at the time of this report.
