Dr. Effiong Nyong, National Publicity Secretary (South) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed claims that the party has been hijacked by prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President David Mark to serve as a political vehicle against the ruling APC in 2027.

In an interview with Nigeria News 247, Nyong explained that these leaders are pooling their strengths to confront Nigeria’s ongoing governance challenges, not to dominate the party.

“It is very wrong to say that ADC has been hijacked,” Nyong stated. “They came together in the interest of the country to tame the scourge of bad governance.”

He urged the public to avoid being swayed by baseless accusations and stressed the coalition’s core goal: rescuing Nigeria from those who have “captured Nigeria with impunity.”

Nyong also criticized current leaders for prioritizing re-election endorsements over meaningful impact, noting that 2025 marks the midpoint of the current administration’s tenure, a moment to evaluate real progress for Nigerians.
