Activist and co-convener of the defunct BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has defended her decision to join forces with former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai in the newly formed opposition coalition, despite their past differences.

Responding to criticism on social media, Yesufu emphasized that nation-building is not based on personal feelings but strategic decisions.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
“Nasir El-Rufai @elrufai has a nuisance value: his anger and vindictiveness, and you think I will not use that? Let me laugh in 3D!!!!!!”

She added, “You think nation building is a romantic affair? I am okay with looking bad while you look good.”

Yesufu’s remarks come amid growing public scrutiny over the composition of the coalition, which aims to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
