Aiyedatiwa Emerges Victorious in Ondo APC Primary Election
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State emerges victorious as the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominee for the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election, securing a decisive win with 48,569 votes in the primaries. His victory surpasses that of his closest rivals, Mayowa Akinfolarin and Chief Olusola Oke, who garnered 15,343 and 14,865 votes respectively.
The announcement of Aiyedatiwa’s nomination was made by the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, who emphasized the competitive nature of the primaries. The electoral process, spanning all 18 council areas of Ondo State, saw active participation from party members and supporters.
Now, with the nomination sealed, Aiyedatiwa and the APC pivot towards consolidating support and rallying behind their candidate in preparation for the November election. Despite reported incidents of violence in some areas, the focus remains on fostering unity within the party and rallying together behind the chosen candidate.
Governor Usman Ododo underscored the importance of unity within the party, echoing the sentiment that political contests are opportunities to serve the community. As members of the same political family, the APC emphasizes the need to unite and support their candidate, setting aside differences for the collective good of the party and the state.
