Dominic Alancha, public affairs analyst and president of the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum (NENF), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC to abandon plans for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2027 elections.

Alancha warned that such a move would deepen Nigeria’s divisions amid ongoing challenges of hunger, insecurity, and sectarian violence, potentially undermining national unity and the party’s electoral prospects.

He cited the fallout from the 2023 elections, where the Tinubu-Shettima Muslim-Muslim ticket reportedly sparked religious tensions, alienated millions of Christians, and led to the APC losing key states like Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and the FCT.

“Over 80 percent of Northern Christians rejected the APC in 2023,” Alancha stated, emphasizing the urgent need for inclusive leadership to preserve Nigeria’s fragile unity.
