The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s North-Central region has urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the party’s National Chairmanship position is returned to the zone following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Chairman of the APC North-Central Forum and member of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, Saleh Zazzaga, made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday. He argued that the region deserves to complete the tenure of former National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who originally hailed from the zone.

Zazzaga said the North-Central has consistently called for the chairmanship position to remain in the region and described its exclusion as a lingering injustice that must be corrected.

“We have maintained that the position of National Chairman should remain in the North-Central to complete the tenure of Senator Abdullahi Adamu,” the statement read. “We even went to court to pursue this demand. However, when the National Executive Committee ratified Ganduje’s appointment, we chose to suspend our agitation for the sake of party unity.”

He emphasized that the call is not based on sentiment but on fairness and the region’s proven leadership capacity. “The North-Central has capable hands that can lead the APC to greater electoral victories,” Zazzaga stated.

He added that restoring the position to the zone would help consolidate party progress and promote internal stability.
