APC NWC Calls Benue Caretaker Committee to Account Over Local Government Structure Dissolution Attempt
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called an emergency meeting with the seven members of the Benue APC caretaker committee following their attempt to dissolve the party’s local government structure.
The party cautioned the committee against exceeding its mandate while managing party affairs.
Speaking to journalists after the NWC meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, APC’s Deputy National Women Leader, Hajia Zainab Ibrahim, explained that the caretaker committee was summoned in response to their decision to dissolve local government party executives.
She stated, “This evening, the National Working Committee convened with the newly appointed caretaker committee overseeing the APC in Benue State for a six-month term. This action was prompted by concerns from Benue regarding the committee’s move to dissolve certain local government party executives.
“The NWC emphasized the committee’s ‘Terms of Reference,’ which include administering the party in Benue State for six months, organizing elections for the upcoming local government elections, and managing logistics for these elections at the local and ward levels.
“The caretaker committee is not authorized to dissolve any structures. Their mandate has been clearly defined, and they have been instructed to adhere strictly to these terms.”
