APC Reaffirms Decision to Boycott Adamawa Council Poll
The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its decision to boycott the upcoming local government election.
The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has scheduled the council poll for July 13, 2024. Although the APC initially showed readiness to participate, it later confirmed its withdrawal from the election.
On Saturday, the youth wing of the APC announced that it has escalated its opposition by taking legal action against the electoral body and the state government.
In a communiqué signed by Khalil Sajo, the coalition of APC youth groups stated they have sued the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led state government “for hijacking the local government election process.”
The communiqué, issued after the APC state leadership met with the Coalition of APC Support Groups at the party’s state secretariat in Yola, revealed that they discussed their non-participation in the election and resolved to abstain.
The communiqué raised concerns about the composition of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission members, among other issues, stressing that they could not overlook these anomalies.
